ABOUT LANGUAGE LINK

Connecting Minds.
Unlocking Futures.

Helping people learn English so they can participate more confidently in everyday life, education, and work.

Our foundation

Everyday words.
Everyday life.

We value the learner’s time, intelligence, and ambition.

The Language Link Foundation program focuses on the most frequently used English words and how people use them in normal, everyday activities—meeting someone, shopping, ordering a meal, making plans, and talking about work and family.

Students encounter these words in meaningful conversations, hear how they are spoken, and practice saying them aloud. Bilingual text on separate pages lets them check meaning quickly and return to English.

Our story

Built by a language learner.
Shaped by teaching.

Language Link began with a question its founder, Stan Burmich, asked through his own language studies: How could learning a second language become more effective and efficient?

Stan developed bilingual materials on facing pages so learners could check meaning without constantly turning to a dictionary. Flash cards, which had helped him in his own studies, offered a practical way to revisit useful words and expressions. Those ideas became Stan’s Cards and, eventually, the Language Link Learning Loop.

After teaching adults and serving in ESL department leadership roles in California, Stan went to China in 2009 to teach English. For the past fifteen years, he has shared his teaching materials online, building relationships with teachers and learners around the world.

His experience as a learner, teacher, and international business professional informs Language Link’s emphasis on practical communication and respect for the goals each student brings to the classroom.

The Language Link Learning Loop

Return to it. Build on it. Use it.

The Learning Loop makes review part of moving forward. Students revisit the previous seven lessons, returning to familiar words and expressions while practicing new material.

The Student Workbook introduces a new loop. At Lesson 20, students begin Dictation 1, returning to the material from Textbook Lesson 1. Then Dictation Quiz 1 provides a quick assessment of the student’s comprehension of the words.

TEXTBOOK · LESSON 1

See · Hear · Say

Read the conversation, listen to the English audio, and practice the words aloud.

AT LESSON 20 · DICTATION 1

Hear · Write

Return to Lesson 1. Listen, recall, and write the language you have practiced.

Each successive dictation reaches back to an earlier lesson.

This deliberate return to earlier material is designed to strengthen long-term memory and build a lasting foundation for everyday English.

In the eBook, students can speak along with the recording or use Echo pauses to listen and repeat. Adjustable audio speed lets them practice at a pace they can follow.
