Privacy & Your Learning

LAST UPDATED · SEPTEMBER 28, 2026

A clear understanding of what is saved,
what is shared, and what you control.

Your saved learning records stay in your browser.

Your practice recordings stay in the open page.

Your learning, on your device

The current Foundation eBook, American Accent, and Citizenship Quiz beta programs do not require a student account or password.

  • Foundation eBook: student names or nicknames, selected language, current lesson, completed lessons, and Learning Loop position are saved in the browser on the device being used.
  • Citizenship Quiz: studied and practiced questions, quiz and interview-practice results, review lists, and Learning Loop position are saved in the browser.
  • American Accent: answers saved through “Save My Check-In” stay in that browser. These can include goals, obstacles, next steps, and a check-in date.

These saved learning records are not automatically sent to Language Link or synchronized between devices, browsers, or different website addresses. They remain until removed by you or by the browser. Clearing browser data may erase them, and Language Link cannot recover them.

Your voice & microphone

American Accent asks for microphone permission when you choose to record. Recordings are held temporarily in the open page so you can listen and compare them with the model. The program does not upload these recordings to Language Link, ElevenLabs, or an automated speech-assessment service.

Recordings are not saved as part of your browser’s learning history. Reloading or closing the page discards them. You may decline microphone permission and continue listening to model audio. To end microphone access, close the program tab or revoke permission in your browser’s site settings.

The Foundation eBook’s ECHO feature provides time to repeat aloud; it does not record you. The current Citizenship Quiz does not use your microphone.

For teachers & shared devices

Use a classroom nickname or student number instead of a full name where possible. Foundation’s Teacher Settings organize students’ progress, but they are not a password-protected account system. Anyone using the same browser profile can open, change, reset, or remove those student records.

Teachers should manage access to shared devices and remove a departing student’s record before reassigning it. American Accent goal answers and Citizenship progress are also shared within the same browser profile. For younger learners, an adult should manage profiles, microphone permissions, and any messages sent to Language Link. Please do not send student rosters or sensitive student information in beta feedback.

A fresh start

  • Foundation eBook: on the opening page, choose Teacher Settings, select the student, then choose Reset Progress to keep the profile and start over, or Remove Student to remove that profile and its progress. Confirm the action.
  • American Accent: choose Clear My Answers in the goal check-in to remove saved answers. Close or reload the page to discard practice recordings.
  • Citizenship Quiz: use Reset Progress in the progress area to clear progress and results. This does not clear the separate Learning Loop position.
  • To remove all locally saved records: close the program tabs and use your browser’s settings to clear site data for the exact website address you used. Repeat for other beta addresses, browsers, and devices. This can remove every student’s saved information for that site, not just one student’s.

These actions cannot be undone. Clearing local site data does not delete emails you have sent or the hosting provider’s traffic records.

When you visit online

Our online beta programs are hosted by Cloudflare. Loading pages, pictures, lesson files, and audio sends normal web requests to the hosting service. Cloudflare processes technical information such as IP addresses, traffic data, and system information to provide and protect its services; traffic information may also be available through its dashboard.

The current program files contain no advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts. Browser storage is used for the learning features described above. Hosting security features may use cookies depending on their configuration. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy and information about Cloudflare cookies.

When you contact Language Link

Our contact links open your email app. If you send a message, Language Link receives your email address, the message, and any attachments you choose to include. We use that information to answer your request, provide support, or investigate feedback. Email is handled through email service providers and is separate from the learning records saved on your device.

You can ask us to review, correct, or delete personal information you have sent by contacting the address below. We will explain any information we need to identify your request and any applicable limits on deletion. Local learning records must be cleared on the device where they are stored.

As Language Link grows

This notice describes the current website and beta learning programs. We will revise it as features and information-handling practices change, and show the latest revision date here.
